Key information
When: 9.30 – 18.00, 11 November 2015
Where: Ateliers Bollwerkstadt, Bollwerk 35, Bern, Switzerland (5 minutes‘ walk from Bern main station)
What: An all-day event, including presentations from existing food surplus entrepreneurs, workshops to guide attendees through the business model canvas and an opportunity to pitch ideas to a panel of business experts and receive targeted feedback. There will also be plenty of time for networking and exchange amongst participants.
Who: The event has been jointly organized by foodwaste.ch – the Swiss independent platform to reduce household food waste – and the Food Surplus Entrepreneurs Network. It is delivered in collaboration with the Our Common Food Start-up programme and Foodways Consulting.
Why: To make an impact on the issue of food waste, it is vital that food surplus start-ups develop strong business models which will enable them to continue working on their projects in the longer term. This Collab aims to support the growth of the food surplus entrepreneurship sector by bringing together existing and new entrepreneurs to share experiences, knowledge and skills.

How to pay yourself a salary while reducing food waste (11 November, Bern)
Whether you’ve got a great idea to fight food waste or your start-up is already up and running, developing a solid business model is key to ensuring you can cover your costs and continue to have impact in the longer term. This all day event in Bern on 11 November will bring together food surplus entrepreneurs from across Europe to share knowledge, skills and experiences. After hearing from a range of established entrepreneurs, attendees will take part in a series of workshops designed to walk them though the business model canvas. As the day draws to a close, participants will be invited to present their idea or start-up to a panel of business experts and receive targeted feedback. Find out more and register.
